This was a first for our chapter! With great excitement, we tried this activity to raise money for our projects. We rented a tent, table, 2 chairs (located in front of the Louisville Library) during tonight's Louisville Street Faire. It was a great location. We were across from the pavilion where the bands were playing on stage, and folks were having SO much fun dancing to the music. In fact, dancing to the music happened outside the pavilion, too! Sisters joined the crowd outside the pavilion -- dancing away to classic rock and roll "oldies" -- as they were selling the iced-down bottled water. ๐Ÿ’—

Sisters volunteered for setup and first shift; others volunteered for second shift and breakdown. Thanks to expert leadership and clear communication, it was a fun activity that netted positive results. We sold each bottle of water for $2, realizing a hefty profit margin. And we had P.E.O. informational flyers to disseminate. In fact, two women made donations to our efforts, saying that wholeheartedly supported our mission to provide financial assistance to women so they can pursue their educational dreams.

The weather was lovely, not too hot, with a sweet, cool breeze. The experience was fun and Just Incredible! ๐Ÿ’—

On a beautiful summer's day, sisters met at Mary Kay Durbin's lovely home to enjoy lunch together, learn about Joyce Kozeliski's father's passion for flying and how it influenced their family life, and have our monthly chapter meeting. As always, our sisters delighted in time spent with one another! And we really enjoyed the delicious drinks and treats provided by co-hostess Annie Gaddy. Every time we gather, it is Just Incredible!!!

Contest: Guess Amount of Change in Jar! (Update: Answer is $129.82 -- Wow!)

Change Collected at June 2024 Gathering

Message from Treasurer Joyce Kozeliski:

Dear sisters, at our June meeting, for the first time, we collected change for our new "Pennies for Projects" fundraiser. The jar was so full, I could hardly carry it.

We decided to have a contest to see who could guess the amount of change - without going over - in the jar. FYI - the jar contains pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. The winner will receive a lovely prize, and you must be present to win.

Attached is a picture of the jar with the change in it. If you want to enter the contest, you can respond to this email with your guess - or you can enter at our meeting tomorrow.

Officers are not eligible, as they already know the answer!

Hugs to all,

Joyce ๐Ÿงก

Message from Jill Hyde, Co-chair, Growth Committee

Today, six JI members met with Katherine Catani for a "Coffee On Demand" at the East Simpson Coffee Company in Lafayette. We heard about her interest in P.E.O. though the Unaffiliate List that the Growth Committee receives on a monthly basis.

She is a research scientist with a physical chemistry PhD and passion for understanding complex chemical systems. She has spent her career in both chemistry and physics experimental research labs, focusing on gas-phase ion spectroscopy and kinetics/dynamics research in the Atmospheric and Space Physics department at CU Boulder.

Her outside-of-work interests include gardening, fermentation, live music, and hiking. She plans to attend our August "pre-meeting and program" and has been invited to our Plus-One Social.
